Do You Know ?
In our human body, which muscle are longest in body ?
( Sartorius muscle in human body)"SARTORIUS MUSCLE" is a long muscle located in the front of our thigh. It courses from our Hip and crosses the front of our thigh, inserting near the inner part of our knee. The sartorius serves to flex and rotate our hip and bend our knee. It is the longest Muscle in the human body.
The sartorius muscle originates from the anterior superior illiac spine, and part of the notch between the anterior superior illiac spine and anterior interior illiac spine.
The muscle descends in an almost vertical fashion through the medial aspect of the thigh. It crosses the medial side of the knee joint and then inserts on to the medial aspect of the proximal tibia, anterior to the gracilis and semitendinosus muscles.
The medical edge of the sartorius forms the largest border of an important anatomical space known as femoral triange.
Blood Supply
As sartorius is such a long muscle, it comes as no surprise that it requires extensive vascular supply from several sources :
- The Proximal third may receives it's vascular supply from the branches of the femoral, deep femoral, lateral circumflex femoral arteries and/or artery of quadriceps.
